Listen : Santigold – Disparate Youth

Santigold‘s forthcoming sophomore release, Master Of My Make-believe, is definitely one of midnitevulture‘s most anticipated releases of 2012.

Hot on the heels of the brilliant M.I.A-channeling ‘Big Mouth’, we now have the 2nd (3rd, if you count ‘Go’) track to be released off the upcoming release. ‘Disparate Youth’ is absolutely beautiful and is the more harmonious brother to the first single. My guess is it was produced by Dave Sitek.

The song will be released as part of a five track EP, due for release on April 8, and is set to feature remixes from Switch, The 2 Bears and Amateur Best.

In the meantime, the track is available on iTunes now, and you’ll be able to hear it performed live when Santigold — along with Sleigh Bells and Little Dragon — open for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on their tour beginning March 29.

Incoming : Magic Wands – Space

It’s been a very long time since we’ve last heard from Magic Wands, but they are finally ready to release some new music.

‘Space’ is the first cut to be taken off their forthcoming debut full length, Aloha Moon, which is due for release April 24th via Bright Antenna.

Aloha Moon is the follow-up to their 2009 EP, Magic, Love & Dreams.

Incoming : Sam Sparro – The Shallow End

Sam Sparro will be making a return to music this year. ‘The Shallow End’ is first track to be released off his forthcoming sophomore album, Return To Paradise.

The track was produced by Jesse Rogg and Greg Kurstin, and “is about life in Los Angeles”.

Incoming : M.I.A – Bad Girls

M.I.A makes a welcome return to the music scene with the release of new single, “Bad Girls”. Though not really that new (an early version of the track originally appeared on her Vicki Leekx mixtape), it was produced by Danja.

This is the final full version. The video will debut on Friday, February 3rd (same day as Madonna’s new single) and was directed by Romain Gavras. 

Her anticipated fourth LP is expected later this year and she has revealed she’s been working with “European producers” and plans on releasing it in the summer, as it’s a “summer record’.

In other news, she has confirmed that she will be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj at the halftime show at the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis on February 5.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on his BBC Radio 1 show this evening (January 30), the UK rapper and singer said of the iconic American football event’s musical interlude: “Yes, I’m going to the Super Bowl… I’m gonna be performing with Madonna and Nicki Minaj… If you’re gonna go to the Super Bowl, you might as well go with America’s biggest female icons.”
