On The Horizon : Ms Mr – Hurricane

Ms Mr are a NYC-based boy-girl duo. They make music.

Their debut single ‘Hurricane’ hit the internet yesterday and it’s mesmerizing. Not much else is know about them right now, except that they’ll be supporting Marina & The Diamonds on tour later this summer.

Give it a listen below and head over to their website for a free download.

Introducing : Ultraista

New band alert. Who they are: Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker and Laura Bettinson.

Laura Bettinson? No idea. But don’t pretend you don’t know who the other two are.

Their first single, ‘Smalltalk’, has been released into the ether. Check it out below.

Video : Nelly Furtado – Big Hoops

It’s no secret that I’ve had a crush on Nelly Furtado ever since she appeared on the music scene with ‘I’m Like A Bird’ and I’m very excited to hear her forthcoming and highly anticipated follow-up to 2006′s Loose.

The first single is called ‘Big Hoops (Bigger The Better)’ and was produced by Rodney Jerkins. It’s a banger of a track and has a mental drum & bass breakdown towards the end.

The video has just been released and it’s pretty cool too. Check it out below.

On The Horizon : Chew Lips – Do You Chew?

Chew Lips are set to return this summer with the release of their second album sometime in September.

The first taster from the album is a very listenable slice of sleazy pop, called ‘Do You Chew?’ Personally, I swallow. (But that’s another story..)

In other Chew Lips-related news, they did a nice little mixtape a while ago. According to singer Tigs Mini Mix Vol.1 is “an amalgamation of tracks listened to whilst in the studio”. If that’s an indication of what the album is going to sound like, then we’re all in for a real treat – Prince, Beck‘s ‘Get Real Paid’ and M.I.A‘s ‘Bad Girls’ feature.

Give it a listen below and hit the download button. It’s free.

Introducing : Kuhrye-oo

Not much is known about Kuhrye-oo, except that he’s from the same scene that gave birth to Grimes, Purity Ring and d’Eon.

His debut 12′” is out now and, for all those who still collect vinyl, you can grab it here. For the rest of you, check out ‘Give In (For The Fame) below. It’s pretty sick.

Incoming : RAC – Hollywood (Featuring Penguin Prison)

RAC has been responsible for turning some very mediocre pop songs into good pop songs and some making good songs better. All through the power of remixing.

Well, RAC has just dropped his debut original single. It’s a very listenable little pop song and features the very charming Penguin Prison on vocals. It’s out on Green Label Sound and the best part is they’re giving it away for free.

Give it a listen below and hit the download button.

And for those who’ve been living under a rock the last few years, watch this video and educate yourself.

Video : Tomas Barfod – Broken Glass

DJ, producer, drummer and one third of Who Made Who, Mr Tomas Barfod (the tall guy on the left), is getting ready to release his debut solo album, entitled Salton Sea on Friends of Friends.

The first single from the album is a track called ‘Broken Glass’ and features someone called Jeppe Kjellberg on vocals. You can check out the video below.

Introducing : Slow Magic

Slow Magic‘s debut album ▲ is quite possibly the most beautiful and moving piece of music I’ve heard in a while.

This is night music, made for daytime listening. This is music from your imaginary friend.

Check out the video to “Corvette Cassette” below.

Now that you’ve done that, click here to show him some love, stream the whole album below, then click here to buy it. (Trust me, you need it.)

Amazing, right?!
