Video : Alpines – Empire

I forgot to post this a couple days ago, but better late than never, right?

Alpines have been on my radar for a while now – absolutely obsessed with this duo. Their latest single is called ‘Empire’ and is out June 11th. The single will be backed by remixes from Maribou State, Tessela and CREEP.

The video was directed by Luke Losey and the band had this to say about it: “The ‘Empire’ video was made in Park Village Studios in Regents Park, which are amazing studios in an old Victorian stables. We wanted a performance video in a setting that could be hundreds of years in the past or the future, giving it a timeless and epic feel.”

They will be performing live at Dalston Roof Gardens in London on June 13th, to coincide with the single release. Expect great things from them.

How Much Do You Know About CREEP?

This is what you need to know: CREEP are a Brooklyn-based band, made up of Lauren Dillard & Lauren Flax. They get together on Wednesday nights and make music in a damp basement room, while Blue Velvet plays on an old VHS in the corner. They told me so themselves.

Ok, no they didn’t. But that’s what comes to mind when I listen to their music. It moves me and scares me.

Their first single, Days, featured the briliant Romy from the xx and had Warren Fischer (of Fischerspooner) directing the video. Soon after came You, featuring Nina Sky on vocals, establishing these guys as a band to keep an eye on. A lot of mystery surrounding the band – not much is known about them, but I think they prefer it that way. Their music has often been referred to as Witch House -  dark, emotive, moody and beat-heavy with traces of dubstep sprinkled throughout.

Now, we have the arrival of a 3rd single. It’s called Animals and features Holly Miranda on vocals. Do they deliver? Yes. Big time. The video is fantastic as well. Seriously you guys, this is what everyone has always wanted from a Massive Attack album, but never got.

Also, check out the first two singles below. Big things for these guys in 2012.
